A Photographic Mind

“A Photographic Mind” is the web log of Robert Ashby, photographer, writer and general factotum.    Here I write about things photographic and link to my other photography web locations, such as my photographic project work website.

I have been interested in photography for most of my life, or at least since about 1957, which is about when I got my first camera – a black plastic Kodak Brownie that took 120 film.    A part time business selling collectable photography books enabled me to build a collection that includes many of the books in Roth and Parr-Badger, during the 1990’s.   That lead to me being Chair and then Festival Director and finally a Patron of the Hereford Photography Festival.    Now I am developing more of my own work, including photographic artists books, whilst thinking about issues in contemporary photography, buying more books, and going to exhibitions and festivals, which I will write about here.
